So you want to know me better? Well, it all started with my first memory when I was six years old and called 911 on … erm … Let’s maybe skip that part.

For as long as I can remember, I have been obsessed with mathematics. When I was ten-years-old, I would count the powers of 2 in my head (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64…) until I could not remember all the digits. Several years later, I found the beauty of programming on Khan Academy. With time, my interests in both fields grew and it has led me to study computational mathematics in university.

In 2016, I started learning American sign language from lifeprint.com. Despite my school not offering ASL and me not knowing any deaf people, I dedicated much of my time in high school to teaching myself ASL. When college application season rolled around, I had to choose between my new-found passion for ASL and my long time love of STEM. I decided to attend the Rochester Institute of Technology, because it had great programs for both. I did one semester of ASL-Interpreting, and then decided to switch majors. Although I adore signed languages, I would hate interpreting other people’s words and ideas. I continue to learn and teach ASL through a club called No Voice Zone at my school.

The semester after switching out of ASL-Interpreting, I considered pursuing imaging science. That semester I completed the most difficult project I have ever faced: The Freshman Innovative Experience. I and a team of five others were given the task of building an imaging system from scratch (click here to learn more). With some introspection, I decided on majoring in computational math with an immersion in imaging science.

PIRIT at the club fair

When I am not doing classwork, I frequently work on extracurricular activities. I do public relations work for both the Rocky Horror and PIRIT Math clubs. I also organize event venues, cast, and productions for Rocky Horror theater performances. Furthermore, I have volunteered for the The hunger projectHunger Project to package over 100,000 meals for the Rochester area. In addition, I occasionally write article for the Honors Program housing committee. Lastly, I am the initiate advisor for the Phi Sigma Pi Honors Fraternity.

Thanks for taking the time to get to know me. I would love to get to know you better. Feel free to contact me with further questions or inquires!
